ENGAGING STAFF with high quality professional development

Dr. Riegel has been an educator for over 25 years. She taught English and journalism at the high school level for nine years and served in administration at a career center for two. She taught instructional leadership, school climate,  and teacher leadership courses at The Ohio State University to educators pursuing leadership roles. She has delivered high quality professional learning and teacher coaching for the past 17 years and has engaged with schools across the United States to improve educator morale and student and family engagement.

Engaging students: Dr. Riegel uses her NeuroWell book as a framework for professional development. She provides actionable ideas for building safe, supportive, and proactive classroom community. She provides guidance on establishing effective routines and teaching practices that build student agency and engagement, establishing strong relationships with students, managing difficult behaviors, and addressing mental health and special needs. Engaging educators: Dr. Riegel has worked with teams of teachers to strengthen collaboration and improve their data analysis and action planning. She helps teachers design Tier 1 and 2 practices that support student needs, and coaches teams of teachers as they develop new resources, lessons, and routines. Dr. Riegel also trains teachers on how to read ETR data to become more proactive with students who have special needs and how to strengthen the relationship between intervention specialists and classroom teachers. She has published a book called "It's Not About the Test" that helps teachers learn how to analyze data and use it to improve their Tier 1 practices. To view the book, click here.

Engaging leaders: Dr. Riegel coaches principals and other school leaders to help them effectively lead change and manage conflict. She assists with designing change management strategy and creating feedback tools to ensure teacher teams are working efficiently and effectively. Dr. Riegel works with leaders to achieve alignment, balance and consistency in their school improvement efforts.  Using her 7C Commitment Framework, she coaches leaders on creating a clear vision for reform, identifying specific actions for implementation, and capitalizing on the talents, values, and interests of their staff to maximize outcomes.  To read an introduction to the 7C Commitment Framework, click here.

Engaging families: Dr. Riegel facilitates parent training to help them learn to support their children at home. She conducts workshops that help parents learn the positive habits they can develop in the home to support their students and partner with teachers to make sure their students are learning and on track for success. She also consults with schools on parent engagement strategy and trains teachers on how to effectively partner with parents.
